AT LAST I HAVE REACHED 10! This is a big accomplishment for me because I didn't think i would be able to make it this far. I'm normally a very closed off person and don't lik to share much but reaching 10 makes me feel accomplished.
I feel the only way to celebrate this is with Final Fantasy fanfare:

I feel as if I have accomplished something because you should really count these small victories. On the subject of finishing the blog I've also completed 1984 at last. I feel that I've learned a bit more about life and the world around me by reading the book. It was a quite enlightening tale and scary how accurate George Orwell was for his time. I also want to think of what I learned writing this blog. Before I was just writing just to get it over with. I couldn't really think about anything i really wanted to write. Now I feel that I know what to write about and can better guide my writing better.

1984 Finale
Winston is let go of Ministry and carries out the remainder of his days. He is merely a shell of the man he used to be. He didn't go to the Ministry to be killed, he was sent there destroy his will and remove the urge to fight the party. Everything he loved and cared was gone or had lost meaning to him. He sees Julia again but their encounter is short and it lacked the same passion that they had for each other earlier. It's like the two don't see each other like they used to. Before they were only with each other because they thought they were rebelling but now they've almost given up their rebellion and don't feel the same anymore because they've stopped fighting. They agree to meet again. Winston is over come with a form of relief knowing the fight is over, that his struggle was over. He can rest knowing that he can stop fighting.
I was rather shocked at the ending. He put up such a fight but ends up with nothing to show for it. He regains all the weight he lost at the Ministry and is finally healthy again. At this point he is thinking that everything is fine. I feel this song by My Darkest Days describes his feeling.

Winston was not at all a hero. He was just a pawn really, a camera like entity that George Orwell used to give us a view at this crazed world he's thought of. It was him showing us what could've been and the way I see it the world could really become like this. If we aren't careful how much power we give our government there would be nothing to stop them which answers my question on how the party gained power. They slowly gained it through out the course of time. Because the world was in a state of war and panic people gave into the government not realizing what this really entailed. The party offered a sense of security and because the people were scared they took it. I'm not sure what the message George Orwell was trying to spread but this is what I took from this book.

1984 part V
Part 3 of 1984 describes the torment and torture that Winston is put through after being caught. He has been taken to what he believes is the Ministry of Love to be questioned for his various crimes against the party. There he is pushed and endures a lot of suffering until he finally gives into the party. While there he sees that people here have no reason to fight the party and he also meets up with some of his old friends. He sees O'Brien who would be the one that carries out his torture. He tells Winston the various truths about the party and the future they wish to create.
The way I see it prison in the world is very similar to our prison. Although cruel and unusual punishment is against the law here perhaps it could be happening somewhere in secret. In the story this takes place in the Ministry of Love. A big place with guards and machine gun turrets that stands in the middle of former London. Modern day prisons are usually further from residential areas so it would be hard to tell what actually goes on inside them aside from what people say.
The reader can get a feel for what a society Oceania really is. It makes me wonder about how the Party gained so much power again and gives us an insight of their goal in all of this. It shows that when everything is gone all that you have left is the human spirit but that can only fight for so long. Winston is pitted against his worst fears and wonders how much time left before he finally snaps and gives up.

A day full of Rest and Relaxation
Not having school today i thought i would take the time to talk about how grateful i am to those who have given up so much for us and this country. I like to take the time to thank them because without them we wouldn't be able to have all our pleasantries and live like we do. I decided before I actually started to relax that i would get things done around the house and clean my dog, be productive in other words before finally sitting back and enjoying my day off. I've been dying to dig into some Assassin's creed III and watch a bit more of my new found love, A game of thrones. Before i can do that i figure i'd blog a bit and finish up on some assignments. It looks like a nice day out so I also want to try to get outside at some point today. Other than that this is all i really have to talk about today.
side note: I just realized i called this blog Crimson but the entire blog is in black
I just realized that I can actually check who my general audience for these things are and how many views I actually get. Nothing new there but this could come in handy in the future if I decide to start a blog about something different or if I'm curious who's reading my many misadventures and ideas.

1984 part IV
In part 2 of our glorious tale Winston speaks to O'Brien a man who didn't really play an important role in the beginning of the book but is a member of a secret society that is determined to take down big brother. Although this group does nothing for its members and it's never made clear what they do to stop big brother or if their leader is even alive Winston is excited to join. He is captivated by the mere thought of a group that's anti-big brother. At this point Winston and Julia are sworn in by O'Brien and make an oath to be loyal which Julia interrupts because she isn't sure about one part of this oath they are taking. It shows that she does somewhat care about Winston or appears that she does. O'Brien's home is described as being big and luxurious with a large quantity of servants which, is the norm for inner party members. He gives them wine and turns off the telescreen which is something few people can do. He gives Winston a book, in this book it gives a more in-depth analysis about the party and their mottos. It explains the 3 super states that the world has been divided into. At this point everything takes a steady decline and part 2 ends with Winston and Julia being captured.
The simple pleasantries that are described in this part are things we really take for granted such as fine wine, big private homes and good coffee. It makes one wonder what would we do with out these luxuries that we have become so accustomed to having just lying around the house. It shows how giving the party is to it's members because O'Brien's home sounds like a mansion compared to Winston's run down house. This is where the story gets extremely exciting and I'm anxious to see what happens now that they've been caught.

1984 Part III
!984 part 2 tells how Winston and his love interest who goes by Julia meet and begin to occasionally start hooking up. This part of the book is very up lifting and you can feel the mood goes from being dark and gloomy to a happier one because Winston found something worth living for. It has a more romantic and up beat tone. I feel that the 2 are like 2 teenagers just going through life enjoying each other's company. Julia Tell Winston how he wasn't her first and how she has seduced many other men in an attempt to slowly destroy the party from the inside. Hearing this he is relieved and is more attracted to her, like he's found someone he could relate to more because she told him that. Julia works in the pornosec which is in the same place Winston works in except she's more like a model/porn star. To put it simple she takes a lot of naked photos. Winston begins to tell Julia everything and we get a bit more of a back story about Winston and the 2 begin live together. At this point I wonder how far each other would go for the other. I think what if Winston was in danger, could he really trust this girl he just met and started talking to. I would be very careful with such a woman.
They sound like teenagers to me but it must be very scary for Winston. He barely knows her and she could be a spy for all he knows. I wonder what George Orwell must've thought when he was writing these chapters about the 2. This humanizes the 2 more, reminding the reader that even in this robotic like world people still have needs. They still desire pleasure and the love of another. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these 2 lovebirds.

Staying up Late
On my off time I find myself spending my time simply playing video games or accomplishing house hold tasks that I should've done earlier. I especially love saturdays because this is the night Toonami is on and that I can really just sit down with a cup of coffee and relax. I don't have to worry about anything other than my dog coco and can play my music as loud as I want. Recently I have found a great metal artist on youtube and love his videos. I know metal wouldn't be most people's first choice to relax to but I'm weird, I enjoy it. If i'm not sitting back and playing minecraft and pokemon i'm browsing reddit and learning more about the world around me.
Considering this blog is just homework assignment i doubt anyone's actually interested in my rants but they're out there for anyone who is. Not very people may want to hear about a guy that plays these games and such but I write these in hope that I can find someone who shares these interests. The interwebs are a big place so I'm sure many people will find this helpful wether it be to get an idea of what 1984 is about or to hear about a guy who has to blog about stuff as an assignment because I've never heard of another school asking students to do that so that might be interesting to read.

1984 Part II
More on the book 1984 by George Orwell '
This is still on the first part of the book considering the book is divided into 3 parts I'll explain each part with 2 posts making a total of 6.
So far into the book you can paint a mental image of the world Winston lives in. Winston lives in what used to be London, now a providence of Oceania. Currently Oceania is at war with Eurasia which gets confusing later because this is constantly switching with Eurasia and Eastasia. He also gives us a brief description of his work and what he does. This part also introduces Winston's love interest, whom works in the same building but does a different job. He tells us about her and explains to us that she is a part of the anti sex league. The thought of purity makes him hate her yet he dreams of her and shows that he lusts for her. After this Winston explains the destroyed area known as the proles where anyone who isn't a member of the inner party lives. I found this part very confusing because anyone who opposes the party is arrested for thoughtcrime yet in the proles people deny the party's lifestyle and are left alone. I find this contradicting fact the most confusing in the entire narrative.
Now that we have an idea of what life is like in Winston's dystopia of a world. Adding this love interest Humanizes Winston a bit more for me. It shows that he is capable of love and natural human instinct is still a very important part of day to day life. It makes Winston seem relatable because we've all at one point have had someone we look at and just want them badly but know we can't have. The proles remind me of WWII concentration camps. A group of people are gathered and placed in these camps and then live there waiting for death. It's not so different for the proles because they are always attacked by the Party and people there have nothing they can do. They differ because the proles also acts as a black market and a place where relics of the past can be found. This ends part I of the book which just gives us an understanding of Winston's world.

1984 Part I
In the book 1984 the first chapter explains the world that the protagonist Winston lives in. He gives us a bit of a back story and tells us his perspective on this place. Basically he lives in this superstate called Oceania that is run by the party. The party is run by big brother, an all knowing and powerful deity like being that works behind the scenes of this dystopia.
In the beginning Winston begins to realize he hates the current way things are and wants to do something about it which makes him liable for thoughtcrime. Thoughtcrime is basically what the name implies, a crime for thinking differently than the party. At this point I'm personally thinking why does anyone put up with something like this and wondered what would happen if the United States was more like this. With the recent elections I got something like this: http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/07/27/dismantling-the-conservative-platform-part-1-we-need-federal-government/big-brother-watching/
No i did not come up with this but this image is the closest rendition of my thought process I could think of.
Aside from the actual book I'd like to put my thoughts at the end of each of these. Let's start with the Party first off. They sound like they've gained too much power and I would like a prequel perhaps that explains how they gained all this power. I mean people wouldn't just let them get this much power and it couldn't have happened over night so how did the Party do it? Another thing at this point that struck me is why no one bothered to fight it. Winston couldn't be the only one finds this unfair and wants to cause a change, so where are these people is one thing i found myself asking.
